Learning Outcomes of the Programme

After completion of the M.Sc. programme in Energy Conversion, the graduate

· Can analyse, design, compare and select energy conversion processes for different applications, taking technological, economic, environmental and societal aspects into account.
· Is able to apply and develop mathematical models to solve energy technological problems.
· Can manage and organise projects and is able to work as project group member and as a specialist in energy technology.
· Is able to design energy technology related equipment, plants, processes and systems.
· Is able to communicate and act in academic and research environments.

• This is a Master of Science in Technology (M.Sc. Tech.), (Diplomi-insinööri in Finnish) degree
• Higher university degree gives eligibility to apply for scientific doctoral studies
• Extent 120 ECTS credits
• Duration two years, full-time studies of 60 ECTS per academic year.

Degree Structure

The Master's degree (120 ECTS) consists of core studies, specialisation studies, minor studies and elective studies. The specialisation studies include a Master's Thesis and a seminar.

The extent of the minor studies is a min. of 20 ECTS cr. The following minors are recommended for the M.Sc. in Energy Conversion:
Environmental Responsibility
Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency
Biobased Chemical Engineering (suitable for distance learning)
Basic Business Studies (online studies for students of technology)
Study Finnish - Live and Work in Finland (for non-Finnish students only)
Modelling of Energy Systems.

The student must take enough elective studies to reach the total of 120 ECTS cr. required for the Master’s degree.
